XML ToolWorks - Quark XPress Xtension

XML ToolWorks Quark XPress Xtension imports and exports XML to and from Quark XPress. With the sophisticated processing power of XML ToolWorks engine making complex dtd-aware xml decisions, in conjunction with our style mapping, ToolWorks seamlessly imports and exports valid xml data every time, easily handling any range of document types - from the simplest to the most-complex.

On export it creates valid xml if you use a dtd (it works with any DTD) or outputs hierarchical and well-formed xml if no dtd is involved. On import it reads in XML data and perfectly styles and formats your Quark document.

But one-step valid xml files form Quark isn't all. XML ToolWorks imports and exports images, tables, special characters and, used in conjunction with MathType from Design Science and Microsoft Word, incorporates MathML equation descriptions into the Quark xml output from XML ToolWorks.

Set-Up

XML ToolWorks Quark Xtension is available for import-only, export-only, or roundtrip XML workflows.

Prior to beginning import or export whether for a single document or a batch, some administrative set up is required. A map file is created one-time for a class of document types. The map-file associates styles found in the document types with XML element names and XML hierarchies. We have a Map-builder tool to make creating a map easy!

If you are using a DTD, this is targeted by XML ToolWorks processing engine.

Converting, exporting and importing

Thereafter, the map and dtd are used by the engine to create the XML. If you use a dtd, the ToolWorks will write valid xml conforming to your dtd. For work not involving a dtd XML ToolWorks creates well formed and hierarchically correct xml.

On import XMl ToolWorks creates perfectly styled Quark documents no matter how design intensive the page layout.

Choose your Workflow XML ToolWorks gives you perfect xml in a one step process from Quark. Where you go from there is up to you!

With XML ToolWorks you can author in Word and flow to finished print layout in Quark XPress. Revisions in either application can update the source xml and the content in the other application.
